The resources published through Hopoksa grow out of Jared’s work as a pastor, teacher, and writer. They are offered to help Christians think clearly, live faithfully, and remain rooted in Scripture.
The name “Hopoksa” comes from Jared’s Choctaw heritage. As he began producing resources in Spanish, he looked for a name that could work for both English and Spanish without translating it, and he came across the Choctaw word hopoksa. In Choctaw dictionaries, hopoksa is associated with wisdom, sobriety, humility, prudence, discernment, moral uprightness, and spiritual transformation. Related words also carry the idea of discipline and formation. Those meanings fit the kind of wisdom Jared seeks to encourage: not merely information or cleverness, but a life shaped by truth, humility, self-control, and obedience to God.
Rejoicing in Truth was the name Jared began using for his online Bible-teaching materials, sermon podcast, and publishing work in 2010. The name came from 3 John 3–4 and reflected the joy of seeing others walk in the truth.
As Jared began preparing more resources in both English and Spanish, he wanted a name that could serve naturally across languages without needing to be translated. For that reason, he began using Hopoksa for books, podcasts, catechetical resources, doctrinal materials, and other teaching resources.
Some older resources may still mention Rejoicing in Truth, but newer materials may be published under the Hopoksa name.
