Jared Byrns is the Pastor of Trinity Baptist Church in Seminole, Oklahoma.
Before moving to Seminole in January 2016, he previously served other churches in Oklahoma and Arkansas. He has been in ministry for 16 years, 10 of those as a pastor.
He trusted Jesus as his Savior 28 years ago at the age of 5 and surrendered to the ministry at the age of 15, but some of his greatest spiritual growth came during college when he found his beliefs constantly challenged. Rather than walk away from the faith of his childhood, he studied arguments and evidence on both sides and came away more convinced of the life-changing truth of the Gospel. Because of these experiences, some of his greatest passions in life and ministry are apologetics and disciple-making: making a reasoned defense for the Christian faith and strengthening others in their walk with Christ.
Jared is married to his lifelong friend, Charla. They have four children—Benjamin (8), Madeleine (6), Charlie (23 months), and Carly Jo (4 months)—and spend much of their time trying to manage the chaos and teach four small people what matters most in life. Jared earned a BA from the University of Oklahoma and his MA in Biblical Studies from Louisiana Baptist University. He has written four books, including his latest, Christs in Contrast, which explores how different belief systems answer Jesus’ question: Who do you say that I am?
Outside of his ministry work, Jared is active in a number of causes that affect Oklahoma families: especially lobbying for the rights of the unborn and supporting educational freedom. In his all-too-infrequent free time, Jared loves outdoor activities like hunting, fishing, hiking, and even yard work. As a seventh-generation Oklahoman, he is enthusiastic about Oklahoma history and can often be found dragging his kids on road trips to obscure spots where something happened a long time ago. Jared and the kids are enrolled members of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, and Jared is a woodworker recognized by the tribe as a registered Choctaw artisan.
